The Devastation Bill – Brazil (PL da Devastação).

An article by Feil & Feijó (in Portuguese).

Fernanda Feil and Carmem Feijó wrote a new op-ed (in Portuguese) about the Devastation Bill at GGN. They explain what it is, why it concerns us, and what the vetoes (don’t) solve. At the heart of the matter—the clash between “speed without study” and environmental and financial integrity—the vetoes eliminate the most glaring excesses, but fail to correct the design that weakens controls and misaligns the country with market and climate requirements and commitments. Reputational risk and the cost of capital remain on the radar, as do exposure to disasters and the loss of competitiveness for those who adhere to best practices.
